I get excited about the moment something complicated suddenly clicks — when a confusing flow becomes obvious, or when an AI response actually sounds like it's listening. That's what I spend most of my days doing at VRT MAX, Flanders' public broadcaster, where I design the streaming experience as a UX consultant via iO.
Before that, I spent two years designing 186 conversations for Kate, the digital assistant inside KBC's banking app — and was the first designer to explore integrating LLMs into what was then a fully rule-based chatbot. The result? A world's best banking app award and Belgium's best chatbot. I also gave a talk at UX Beers about that exact transition.
Outside client work, I'm a board member at Open Knowledge Belgium and coordinate the Open Summer of Code, where students build real open-source civic tech in four weeks flat.
I also run Valderas, where I help companies like Nitra get their operations unstuck — CRM workflows, marketing automations, the kind of behind-the-scenes tooling nobody sees but everyone relies on.
